In fashion, there's no such thing as vacation. The closest most editors and buyers come to taking a rest is eating lunch while scrolling through style.com or perhaps a ten minute lounge at the airport, ready to board a flight. As for designers, I actually wonder if they even sleep. This is not to say boo-hoo - it's a fabulous job and they do it because they love it - it's only to recognize that many other matters, family in particular, often take an unfortunate backseat.

Hence the confusion when LVMH announced this week that one of their most coveted labels, Céline, would not show at fashion week due to head designer Phoebe Philo's pregnancy. (She'll be 8 months along with her third child during the Paris shows.) Philo has been a champion of family over fashion, famously resigning from her job at Chloé in 2006 to tend to her first child and carry her second at a time when the label was arguably in its crowning glory. As mentioned fashion designers don't take lunch, let alone maternity leave, especially when their labels are turning over huge profits. But perhaps all of that is about to change thanks to Philo and the unexpected understanding of LVMH.

I have a confession to make: there are at least 10 pairs of underwear in my top drawer that I've owned for over 10 years. I never even considered the possibility of that being gross until just now. I wash them regularly, but I also wear them regularly, rotating them in when I'm in need of fuss-free comfort. They are tattered at the edges, stripped of all elasticity, and fit like a second skin. In essence - ten years later - that's exactly what they are.

The minute Angelina stepped onto the Golden Globes red carpet in a white silk Atelier Versace gown with a cherry red folded collar and matching cherry red lips and clutch, the Twitterverse was convinced that matching is once again chic.

There was a lot of chatter on the web about Cameron Diaz looking hot at the Versace Haute Couture show, so like any good celebrity follower, I clicked on the pics to see. Did they forget a word in there? Cause I think she looks a hot mess. Not to be cruel, but honestly I don't get it.

So often I read about people being hit by cars. As a pedestrian myself, I'm always a bit shaken by the news, but I also wonder how. How is it that between a capable walker and a licensed driver neither person thought to stop? Then it hit me. No, not a car thank God, but driving around the city this weekend I realized that everyone is wearing black.

Oh this is funny: the commissioner of Caddo Parish, Louisiana is seeking to ban pyjama pants from being worn out in public. His plea comes after a public incident where he witnessed two young men wearing loose pjs and claims their private parts were about to fall out. "Pyjama pants today, next it will be underwear tomorrow," he says. Not underwear—sacré bleu!

Has this man ever seen a picture of Lady Gaga? Louisiana's own Britney Spears? How about a Pride Parade? Cause you can forget about the undies when it comes to leather chaps.

Alright then, now that that's out of the way, let's take a look at why merkins are back in the news…

PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) has come out swinging against the luxury spa chain Completely Bare. The New York-based spa, which happens to be owned by one of the Real Housewives from the Big Apple, has added a fox fur merkin to their list of services.  They are calling it the "Foxy Bikini" and the cheesiness doesn't come cheap at $225 USD. Another addition to the menu is "The Carnivale Bikini" at $195 USD which consists of neon feathers (taped? glued? do I want to know?) to the business below. Having been to Carnival in Rio de Janeiro, I'm sad to admit that these feather merkins would fit right in. As for the fox fur version, I'm coming up empty handed on a fitting occasion.

What's up guys? Do I look expensive enough? Should I change?

Socialite, fashion icon, street style phenom, and oh right, Vogue Japan editor Anna Dello Russo told The New York Times this week that she changes her outfit up to five times a day. I think we can all agree: that's excessive. For Anna, however, fashion is art and so she fittingly refers to these wardrobe flips as "performance".

As if headbands weren't already enjoying newfound popularity, Sunday night's Golden Globes certainly helped to give them a resounding final push. The truth is, the headband is a bit of an unsung hero. Often dismissed as school girl chic, it doesn't get its proper due. A well-adorned, well-placed headband can be the ultimate in sophistication.

As you know, I don't like to be mean, but when it comes to celebrities, I think it's fair game. They have all of the money and the means to look their best all of the time—the sheer unfairness of that makes me think it's okay. Between the stylists, limitless budgets and fashion designer BFFs, there's really no excuse. That's why I'm happy to take this opportunity to call out the major fashion failures from last night's Golden Globes.

Honestly, I didn't think anyone looked great - Salma Hayek, Claire Danes, and Julianna Margulies looked pretty, sure; Michelle Williams' vintage headband might have deserved its own statuette (more on this hot accessory tomorrow), but her velvet dress was reminiscent of Grandma's curtains; which is all to say that no one knocked it out of the park. Therefore I get to be mean. Here goes:

She's always daring on the red carpet and high five for that, but this risk reaps no rewards. Straight up - Tilda Swinton looks like David Bowie cross-dressing as the mother-of-the-bride. I mean, baby blue satin…really?
