It’s All In The Jeans
Enter Gap’s fantastic new endeavor, the 1969 Premium Jeans Collection, which features seven different women’s styles (one to hopefully flatter ever booty out there) with a seemingly endless array or washes and finishing details all for under $89.50.
Always Skinny: Low rise. Hugs the body from hip to ankle. A new classic. Select fall versions feature zipper or brass button ankle closures.
Real Straight: Slim on the hip. Straight at the ankle. Perfect proportions. Effortlessly cool.
Sexy Boot: The ultimate leg-lengthener. Sits low on waist. Sleek from hip to knee. Youthful in feel, ageless in shape.
Long and Lean, Curvy, Perfect Boot are all back with subtle tailoring updates and versatile variations including the Curvy Trouser.
Boyfriend: the slouchy new downtown shape.
I have yet to find a skinny jean that is cut for a curvy girl, so I’m psyched to give Gap’s version a try (their low rise is never silly low). Particularly intriguing are the versions with button closures on the calf—very military inspired. I’m also thrilled by the return of the classic jean jacket. This time around, it is slightly more tailored and must be in a dark wash, but amen to the resurgence in casual, chic and functional pieces!
For those who didn’t give a pair of Boyfriend jeans a try this past spring and summer, it is time my friends. Granted, it is a trend driven silhouette right now, but I honestly believe that there is a way for this relaxed cut to work for every woman at every age. It all just depends on the proportions and the pairings. Do not even think about wearing these jeans with a baggy t-shirt and sneakers, they are the casual piece that you mix with a blouse and a blazer or a top with feminine detailing. They look edgy (read stylish) with a chunky sculptural heel, but if you just can’t do it, grab a ballet flat—not your converse—and roll the cuffs to show the anklebones a la Katie Holmes. Don’t just look at them as your errand running, grabbing a Sunday coffee jeans, play with them and do wear them on a hot date or a night out with the girls. Style is all about mixing and matching these days, so do just that with these slouchy wonders.
I don’t know about you, but this Fall I will surely be falling into the Gap again and celebrating a company that is actually trying to make life easier when it comes to denim. Classics are classics for a reason after all.
Which style of jeans will you be sporting this fall?
