3 Hot Looks To Try This Week

One of the best things about being a style blogger is that you have almost immediate access to paparazzi shots and can, therefore, be up to the minute on new trends as they emerge. Late last week both Cameron Diaz and Drew Barrymore arrived at premiers of their new movies rocking cutting edge looks that are sure to make their way into the mainstream this holiday season. All week I wished that Lucy Liu would show up at some event looking spectacular so the Charlie’s Angels trilogy would be reunited. Alas, she did not, so Liu’s role has been recast (at least for our purposes) with…. Kristin Cavallari! Check out this week’s fashion inspiration after the jump.

3 Looks
Cameron’s High Bun

The placement of Diaz’s chignon is risky business, especially since we have all grown so accustomed to the low and side buns that have dominated the last few years. I guess it's partially the element of surprise that makes this look so refreshing. One part old-fashioned school marm, one part sexy businesswoman, this perfectly disheveled topknot is a fantastic addition to any long haired gal's hair repertoire. If there were a poster girl for nonchalant elegance, Diaz would certainly be it.

Kristin’s Black With Nude Accessories

We must put aside her polarizing personality and the fact that she is naturally drawn to the world’s tackiest and overly revealing clothing and give credit where credit is due. I love this look BIG TIME! We all know I am a sucker for black lace, but that’s not even the draw here. The natural instinct is to accessorize an all black ensemble with a.) More black b.) A pop of colour or c.) Metallics, but Cavallari’s nude python clutch and pumps are so unexpected I’m having a “why didn’t I think of that” shame spiral. Kudos to you Miss. Cavallari, you’ve won this round fair and square.

Drew’s Pink/Red Pout

There is just something so modern about a bare face offset by a bold lip. Drew hit it out of the ballpark with this unique shade, a perfect blend of classic red and hot pink. It looks like a dab of strawberry jam fell perfectly into place on her face—delicious! I own a fairly serious amount of makeup, but I don’t think I have anything like this shade in my collection. It is now my personal quest to find a perfect impostor for Drew's hue and I promise to report back asap. Until then, visitors will just have to get used my bathroom looking like a cross between a chemistry lab and a makeup manufacturer while I try to custom blend my own!

What do you think of this week’s style picks? Love or hate any of them? Going to give them a try? Know the perfect lipstick shade or have seen a great nude heel lately? Let’s hear about it!
