Best In Show: The Ultimate Mascaras For All Your Lash Woes
Finding the perfect mascara is like finding the perfect guy. More often than not, you've got to sample a whole lot of duds along the way, but when you find "the one" you're hooked. To make the quest a little but easier (unfortunately, I can't help you out with the dudes), I chatted with Murale Beauty Master, Joanne Black, about her favourite mascaras for all of your lash needs. Best for lengthening: Lancome Definicils $27 - the industry standard for an excellent mascara that lengthens and defines lashes
Best self curling: Estée Lauder's Illusionist Maximum Curling $27.50 - for that wide-eyed doe look!
Best for Thickening: It's a tie! L'Oreal Voluminous $8.49 or Yves Saint Laurent Volume Effect Faux Cils $36. Both deliver maximum product to plump up the lashes.
Best Waterproof: CARGO Better Than Waterproof Mascara $20. It's smudge and flake proof and removes with warm water in "tubes".
Best Coloured: Yves Saint Laurent—from your basic black, to vibrant violet and blue, to on-trend grey.
Best Brush Design: Clinique High Definition Mascara $18. A comb on one side (to separate or get right to the base) and brush on the other (maximum product application). Use one or both! Le 2 De Guerlain $37. This mascara has a brush on either end of the tube. One is for the upper lashes and the other is a tiny brush for bottom lashes or those hard-to-reach inner corners.
Best New Lash Technology: Vibrating brushes! Tiny vibrations "massage" your lashes into the brush to obtain the maximum amount of product onto the entire length of the lash. Lancôme Oscillating $39 and Estée Lauder Turbolash $38.50 both have vibrating brushes—Lancôme even has an Oscillating Primer.
