Copycat: Blake Lively

She may have been at the premier of Where The Wild Things Are, but let’s be honest, this is the most demure we have seen Blake Lively look in, well, ever. I kid, I kid, it’s just that I’m used to seeing the young Miss. Lively be a bit more blatant about her sex appeal—does anyone else remember the Emmy dress cut down to there? She was giving J.Lo a run for her money in that thing! I guess this transformation just goes to show that every woman wants to work a “naturally glamorous” look every now and again. How fortunate for us, then, that Sephora’s Pro Beauty Team Expert, Nathalie Bechard, took notice of Lively’s recent red carpet look and let us in on all the tips and tricks needed to recreate it on our own. You didn’t think Blake came by that peachy glow naturally did you? Find out how after the jump.

Blake Lively This look is a classic because of the palette of shades chosen really enhance Lively’s beautiful features. In essence, it is a nude look, but because of her peaches and cream complexion, Lively benefits a lot from warmer, rosier shades. The neutral colors and fresh pink lip are shades that many people can pull off very well, but it’s important to find the colours that work with your look—so don’t be afraid to ask for help at the beauty counters, drug stores or, of course, at Sephora.

FACE:

-To prep, apply a moisturizer and eye cream appropriate for your skin-type.

-It’s important to prime your skin with a primer to smooth out the surface and to improve the makeup’s staying power. Two of Nathalie’s favourites are LORAC Aqua Prime and Sephora’s house brand Primer.

-Lively’s skin has a satin matte finish in this look, which can be achieved by applying a sheer satin finish foundation with a stippling brush and buffing into the skin in soft circular motions to ensure light and even coverage. By apply foundation with a brush you get a more professional looking application (read flawless). Nars Sheer glow foundation applied with a Sephora stippling brush will achieve the desired result, but always feel free to work with what you have in your makeup bag.

-Apply concealer on any areas if extra coverage is needed. A brightening concealer such as Mister Light Brightening concealer by Givenchy, or pencil, like Benefit brightening pencil, can be applied on the entire eye area to give a soft brightening affect.

-Set the foundation with a translucent powder or even a pearlized mineral powder for a soft focus effect like Lively’s. Nathalie’s favourites are Sephora Brand mineral touchup powder, Make Up For Ever HD Powder and Fresh Pressed Powder Face luster, if you are looking to try something new.

-Bronzer will warm up the entire face and also create dimension. Apply it to the high planes of the face with a bronzer brush in soft circular motions. Cargo matte bronzer and Korres bronzer in warm glow are both hot options.

- A pinky coral shade of blush applied to the apples of the cheeks looks great on almost everyone. NARS Orgasm is one colour that every woman should have in her arsenal and I would be willing to be it is the exact shade Lively is wearing here.

-Lively’s brows are natural, yet defined. Use an angled brow brush to apply a brow powder a shade lighter and cooler than your natural brow color. This trick will create a soft shape to the brow without looking over done. Brow gel can also be applied across the hair to ensure a smooth finish to help tame any unruly hairs. If you have been looking to try a new brow product Anastasia (the Hollywood brow guru) makes some outstanding ones.

EYES:

- Soft peachy shadows like Moonstone and Enlighten by LORAC or Bare Escentuals Tiger Lily and Pebble, are what you need to replicate this look. Take a look at them on sephora.com to see if you already own something that will do the trick.

-Apply a light silver shadow under brow bone with a soft medium sized eye shadow brush, then add a warm peachy pink shade with a domed crease brush in the crease, blending slightly above it to create soft definition.

-Apply mascara to the top and bottom lashes focusing on the tips. Make Up For Ever’s smokey lash is Nathalie’s top pick (that’s two of our consulting makeup artists that have choosen it now!).

LIPS:

-Prime lips with Guerlain’s Kiss Kiss to help lip product last and not bleed

-Line lips with a neutral pink lip pencil to stop any bleeding. Sephora brand slim pencil in 115 is a perfect match to Lively’s lips.

-Finish off with a pinky coral lipgloss like NARS orgasm lipgloss (matching that blush) or Sephora’s Ultra shine lipgloss in Iridescent Pink 12.

Tell it like it is: What do you think of Blake’s “natural” look? Will you be giving it a try any time soon? Do you know of any other products or shades that could substitute for Nathalie’s picks? Do you like Blake better in her wilder looks, or does demure suit her?
