The Surreal Life: Peek Inside Holt's Star-Studded Gala
Holt Renfrew knows a thing or two about style. No surprise then that their Let There Be Magenta Gala last Thursday was the most stylish event, well, possibly ever in Calgary's history. The second floor of the brand new Calgary store was transformed into a partygoer's heaven complete with a DJ set from Samantha Ronson and a splattering of A-List celebs mingling amongst the crowd. Last week you all voted on what I should wear to the ever so slightly intimidating fashion parade and here's your chance to check out the winning look and find out who was in attendance....
By popular demand, I went with the leopard print number even though I was leaning towards black—that's the power of the people right there! I paired it with my new obsession, vintage looking black leather mary janes by Nine West (Their killer platform keeps them modern and gives me the extra height I needed when standing next to Supermodel Heather Marks) and a starburst cocktail ring. The fabulous Shelley Hilliard transformed my hair and makeup on behalf of Joe Fresh Beauty. Check back next week for a step by step guide to achieving this sultry bronze eyed look on your own.
Had to laugh when the unbelievably sexy Elisha Cuthbert (decked out in Gucci) asked if my dress was Dolce & Gabbana. I let her in on a little secret...it's actually from Banana Republic.
It was totally surreal chatting with my girl crush, Kristen Bell, while she and her friend Molly indulged in the dessert buffet. She looked unbelievable; that face, that hair and a killer silver sequined dress by Jenni Kayne. Perfection in a tiny little pixie sized package!
Samantha Ronson spun a crazy cool set and clearly Canadian supermodel Heather Marks (in an amazing dress by Rita Liefhebber) wasn't shy about showing her appreciation on the dance floor. While there was a photo taken of Marks and I together, let's just say there is a reason she is a supermodel and I am not!
Towards the end of the night surprise guest Jeremy Piven made an appearance. The man clearly has a penchant for the lovely ladies, as he opted out of the actual party to spend time in the green room with a select group of A-list beauties— oh, and a few lucky journalists that had the chance to go back and meet him.
At the end of the evening, one thing was very clear; There ain't no party like a Holt Renfrew party! Now if only they would open a new location in town next year we could do it all again.

Fun times Megs. Now I know who those people are. just needed to see a visual reminder. I've always wondered what i'd say if I came across famous people? They meet so many people, and I bet so many are wanks, so you don't want to be just another wanker. So what did you have to say to them?
