What Are You Wearing NYE?

I know, I know, the song poses the question, “what are you doing New Year’s Eve,” but that info is far less important than what you will be wearing for those scrambling to make their wardrobe decisions. To me, New Year’s is the one night of the year when you can be your most glamorous self, so that is exactly what I intend to do….

They’re Just Like Us: Celebs Need Resolutions Too!

Just in case their busy Hollywood schedules don’t allow them to think up such frivolous things as New Year’s resolutions, I have taken it upon myself to think up a few for a handful of lucky celebrities. Don’t get me wrong, I love them each in their own way, but when it comes to their personal styles these ladies could use a little tweaking in 2010. Tell us if you agree or disagree with these celeb improvement ideas after the jump.

Who’s Your Pick For The Best-Dressed Of 2009?

2009 was a seriously glamorous year in fashion. When I was trying to compile the short list for this year’s best-dressed women there were too many unbelievable transformations and fashion moments to count. Taylor Swift looking like a gorgeous grown woman in her jewel encrusted gown and ruby lips at the VMAs (damn you Kayne for stealing her thunder!), the unbelievable couture parade that was Paris Fashion Week and the many breath taking (and fashion world changing) choices made by first ladies, Michelle Obama and Carla Bruni-Sarkozy, just to name a few. When it came to my four favourites of the year, it was nearly impossible to narrow a year’s worth of outfits down to a handful, so you will have to forgive me if your top ensemble didn’t make the cut. See my picks and voice your own opinions after the jump.

What’s The Worst (Style-related) Christmas Gift You’ve Ever Received?

A lot of people believe that clothing is the worst Christmas present one can receive. I tend to disagree, but likely only because I have learned to be extremely specific when compiling my Christmas list and, therefore, only get clothes that I asked for. You see, during the earlier years of my life my father was notorious for coming up with rather bizarre clothing items as presents. Eventually I realized that the man just really doesn’t like to shop (like, at all) so providing him with a detailed list he could hand over to the sales clerk saves him from a lot of grief and scores me everything I want! Tell us your worst gift stories after the jump.

Copycat: Camilla Belle

Being called an ice princess is not exactly a compliment, but looking like one is a whole other story. This winter (and especially for the holidays) I’m all about a silvery glimmer on the eyes and a frosty quality to the lips—there’s something a little bit Scandinavian to the whole look. I caught up with Sephora Pro Expert, Nathalie Bechard, to find out how to recreate Camilla Belle’s gorgeous frosted face. Keep this one in mind for New Year’s girls…

Guest blog: My dance with falsies

I’m not one of those women who gets caught up in every little fashion trend. If it suits my body or my look, I’ll adapt it into my wardrobe. I don’t flip through fashion magazines wishing I looked like the cover model or wanting that figure or that hair. I will admit though, when I see all those mascara commercials, I really covet those lashes.  I’ve tried every kind of mascara, every brand, cheap and not-so-cheap. I still end up with lash envy.

As the holiday season approached, I kept thinking to myself that I’d make the leap. I’d try wearing fake eyelashes. How hard could it be? Find out after the jump.

Is Wearing Red A Holiday Cliché?

Deciding what to wear for a big event can be trying at the best of times. Add the general hustle and bustle of the holidays and a dash of extra pressure to look your best and you've got the recipe for a dressing disaster. While red and green make an alright colour scheme for festive décor, when it comes to holiday fashions red seems a little predictable, no?

All I Want For Christmas Is A Naughty Elf Getup?

Call me old fashioned, but I thought Christmas was about hanging the stockings by the chimney with care, not silk wrist restraints hung from the bed posts? You could have fooled me with the seemingly endless stacks of lingerie flyers jamming my mailbox— all of which seem to think that all every woman wants for Christmas is a “Sexy Claus” ensemble to tempt the man in her life.

My New Obsession: Pewter Polish

I have already admitted (and accepted) that I suffer from magpie syndrome, so it should come as no real surprise that this holiday season I will be steering clear of holiday-friendly red nail polishes and opting instead for slightly off kilter metallics. On second thought, I’m not sure you can beat a rich burgundy or the OPI classic crimson, “I’m not really a waitress” for Christmas, but come December 26th it’s going to be silver all the way to New Year’s Day.
