What Are You Wearing NYE?
I know, I know, the song poses the question, “what are you doing New Year’s Eve,” but that info is far less important than what you will be wearing for those scrambling to make their wardrobe decisions. To me, New Year’s is the one night of the year when you can be your most glamorous self, so that is exactly what I intend to do….
While I wasn’t able to nail down a piece of celeb caliber sequined clothing like I had hoped, I have put together what I think will be a sensational outfit for the big night—though as I write this I still don’t know what I will be doing. Note to self: never again leave planning up to a group of 25 year-old boys while you flit off on a Mexican cruise!
For me, the outfit usually starts with the shoes. While I may regret my choice of crazy-high black-tooled leather Mary Janes after a few glasses of Champs, for now, they are my anchor. From there I found a charcoal grey ruffled chiffon tank dress for less than $50 at H&M which I will toughen up with my black leather jacket and sheer black stockings. I might top it all off with a long single strand of pearls, a la Carrie in the Sex and the City movie, but I will have to see how it looks all together. Hair will be slightly disheveled (as it usually is) and makeup will be the perfect pairing of dark smudgy eyes and perfectly glossy pale pink lips. Sounds like recipe for edgy glamour if I've ever heard one....we will just have to see how things turn out outside of my imagination!
