My New Obsession: Fuchsia Lipstick
Ummm…if the colour scheme of this blog is any indication, it is easy to see we are big fans of pink here at styleswept. That particularity is especially prevalent when I hit the makeup counter. No surprise, then, that after Sephora makeup artist, Adi Lando’s, shared her pick for recreating Natalie Portman’s flawless fuchsia pout I had to run out and get the shade for myself…
Also not that surprising, is that I love this lipstick more passionately than any other I have loved before (if you’ve ever seen my makeup bag you will understand just how bold of a statement that is). Fitting then that this lacquered love affair is with Sephora’s Rouge Crème Lipstick in R10, aka. Mr. Lover (I’m not kidding, that’s actually it’s name) and all this beautiful relationship cost me was $14.
This bright, but deep shade goes on thick and creamy, but reads as almost matte when on. It looks so modern paired with luminous skin, sheer nude eyeshadow and dark defined lashes. Add a flick of cat inspired eyeliner and the look is more retro. I also can’t wait to see how the shade looks when the weather warms, along with my uber pale skin tone!
The only downside of this passionate love is that I now live in fear that one day my sweet “Mr. Lover” will be taken away from me. If this shade should ever be discontinued like my last beloved lacquer (Napolean Perdis Goddess Lipstck in Calypso) I don’t know if I could take it. For now, however, I will just have to bask in the honeymoon phase and maybe pick up an extra tube or two just to be safe.
So tell me: Have you ever fallen head over heels for a cosmetic just to have it brutally discontinued? How did you carry on without it…or are you still mourning that loss? How do you feel about fuchsia lips? A nice alternative to classic red or just a flash in the pan nod to the eighties again? Feel a new obsession of your own coming on? Sound off here.
