Why I like to shop solo

What bothers you most about shopping with other people? Would you rather have people around for their opinions, or not? Do you get annoyed by having to critique your friend’s fashion choices in the change room, or having to go into stores you aren’t interested in?

I say go to the mall by yourself - at least once in a while. Go to the stores you want to go to, try on the clothes that you want to try on, and buy what you think looks good on you. This is my kind of shopping.

Going shopping with your friends can be a fun outing, and a great idea in theory, but do all of the people in your shopping posse really want to go to the same stores? Even if you do – some may want to stick around longer than others. For instance, going into any dark and cavernous, topless-men-with-scarves-on-overpriced-moose-hoodies-all-around store reeking of its own cologne is out of the question for me (not mentioning any store names). But some of my friends like to shop in stores like that, and I always find myself getting coaxed into entering, and then wanting to get out immediately.

But that’s not all – sometimes, I find myself shopping with friends who give the wrong opinion. If you notice that your shopping buddies give the same positive critique on everything you try on, it’s because they a) don’t really care, or b) don’t have great taste. It’s better to trust your own instincts when looking in the mirror, by yourself.

What about you? Do you prefer shopping in groups or solo?
