Which Celebrity Looks Best In The Nude?

Basic black and pops of jewel tones (even rather questionable orange shades) are red carpet regulars, but lately there has been a huge shift—and I mean huge— towards blush tones and nude shades being a celebrity's go-to formal wear hue. While nude is a subtle choice, these dresses have been far from simple. In fact, I think the softer shade is leaving a little more room for experimentation in texture and silhouette. You be the judge after the jump.

NudeCollage

In theory, I love the way all these ladies look in their nude dresses. In practice, however, I have a few qualms. Rachel Bilson is one of my faves, but this shade is doing nothing for her winter complexion. I have no problem with her being pale (I am as alabaster as they come), but light skinned ladies need to be very careful about the nude shades they select. I feel like this one is just slightly too yellow on Bilson and she could have benefited greatly from a warmer blush tone—and some blush on her cheeks wouldn’t have hurt either.

Anna Kendricks is a doll, but I think she learned the hard way that when you wear nude it is all about the skin. No need for dark stockings and black shoes; tonal colour palettes like those demonstrated by Rachel McAdams and Ginnifer Goodwin are definitely the way to go. Speaking of Ms. McAdams, in my opinion she pulls the nude look off the best out of this bunch. There is just something deliciously luxe about the colour and cut of her dress. Her makeup is subtle, but defined, and warm enough to keep her from looking sickly. Her skin just looks so gloriously peachy I can barely contain myself.

All this being said, I’m just not sure that nude is a realistic colour palette for most women off of the red carpet. Granted, if you were blessed with an olive or darker skin tone you may have less trouble, but I still think finding the most flattering shade is a difficult task.

Let’s discuss: Who do you think looks best in nude? Do you personally wear a lot of these shades? What’s your secret to still looking vibrant? Planning on giving this trend a whirl in the near future? Will you be waiting until you get a little summer colour or are you embracing the pale? Think these shades are easier to wear than I suspect? Sound off below!
