Adam Lambert: The Next Mary Kay?
On Friday, New York Magazine’s blog, The Cut, reported that
Adam Lambert is in talks to launch a full out makeup line for men. No, we
aren’t just talking about a touch of flash bronzer or tinted moisturizer a la
Clinique here; this would be the whole kit and caboodle. I have a few very vain
exes that I could see dabbling in the world of man makeup and one commenter on
The Cut even went so far as claiming that no straight man in NYC leaves home
without a swipe or two or Touche Eclat (can’t blame them really, it is the best
darn product in the universe!)…
I suppose if someone has to bring the world of guyliner and
glitter to the masses it might as well be Adam. I mean you don’t get the
nickname Glambert without being able to bang out a flawless smoky eye in under
three minutes. I’m just not sure I want to live in a world where the boyfriends
actually are prettier than the girlfriends. Sure, a little lip balm keeps a
man’s lips subtle. I can even get behind a dude wearing nail polish (forgive
me, I have a bit of a rock star complex). I’m afraid I am going to have to draw the line at facial contouring and
mascara on my man, however. And does this mean that men are going to have to
start carrying clutches to cart around all their cosmetics as well? That could
actually come in handy. Don’t have room in yours for your favourite gloss?
Boyfriend has got you covered—just make sure you both have the same colouring
so you can share shades!
Let’s discuss: How do you feel about a Glambert endorsed
line of man makeup? Is he the perfect brand ambassador or what? Would you date
a guy that owned more cosmetics than you? And I’m not just talking about
cleansers and exfoliators—this is full on foundation and shadow territory. Keen
on the idea of sharing a purse if this becomes a major trend? Anyone actually
seen a man apply makeup? I’m pretty sure a guy in my high school was big
into concealer, but I never caught him in the act. Sound off below!
