Fair warning to shy readers: this is a post you may not
enjoy reading. In fact, if you are at all reserved or squeamish about lady bits
and hair removal it would be advisable for you to stop reading now as this
conversation is about to take a turn into uncharted styleswept territory…
Let’s get the bad news out of the way first: I don’t care if it’s before or after Labour Day, it is my opinion that it’s a rare woman (and an even rarer man) that looks good in white pants. Now for the good news: I don’t come across too many white pant enthusiasts here in Canada, so I don’t have to worry about it all that much!
I used to abide by a very strict “no speedo” policy. Only
boys in board shorts need apply to be with me. That all changed three years ago
when I was staying with some friends in Manly Beach, a suburb of Sydney Australia.
With such a strong surf culture it was pretty common for guys to change in and
out of their wetsuits multiple times a day and I quickly learned that
underneath those wetsuits were not only some of the most cut bodies to roam the
earth, but also Speedos—I guess not much else will fit?
As a general rule, the ladies, they like the shopping. There
are some women, however, whose love of style—and a killer deal—take their
shopping skills to an entirely new level. For Julie and Christine of the fresh
Canadian blog, sevendollarpants.com, shopping is not just a pastime; it is
serious business! Seven months ago the girls started their site after
realizing that the endless conversations they were having with each other about
styling tips and their latest scores around the city might be interesting and
helpful to other lovers of fashion. Boy, were they right!
As a daily public transportation user, I am familiar with
the feeling that on a daily basis you are “wasting” an hour or two of your life
just trying to get where you are going. It is for this reason that I am able to
forgive most of the peculiar behaviours I witness while in transit. Want to
practice your new dance moves on the C-train? As long as it’s not a packed rush
hour train and you are not interfering with other riders, go for it! Want to
whip out your rosary and get your prayers taken care of for the day? Be my
guest. Heck, even if you want to get in a quick make out session with your
significant other I’m not going to hold it against you as long as you keep it
PG. Where I do draw the line, however, is when ladies treat the bus or train as
their private boudoir…
I’m not a big fan of dangly earrings. In fact, most days you’ll see me wearing my small heart studs from Tiffany without giving it a second thought. But every now and then an earring comes along that really makes me think twice about my earring collection (or lack thereof).
As you may or may not know, I am living large down under in
the land of Aus for the month of July. Well, living large may be hyperbole for
living the backpacker life, but I am indeed in Australia! One of the best
things about traveling internationally, in my opinion, is discovering both the
good and the bad about a culture other than your own. And while there is plenty
of good things to report about the Aussi way of life, it is also a culture that
is extremely preoccupied with appearances. It wasn’t such a shock then when I
learned that this relatively small nation was going to be leading the way in
the fight against body image issues—there certainly seem to be quite a few of
those to work through down here.
When it comes to grooming, men and women really do live on
different planets—that fact became crystal clear last time we discussed morning
prep times here on styleswept. But while I wasn’t expecting the male population
to understand the extent to which some women go to improve upon their natural
looks, I didn’t think they were completely oblivious to the enhancements
readily available to those ladies that want them. According to a new study out
of the UK, however, I have been giving guys way too much credit where it is
certainly not due!
As I am considered by many to be one of the palest people on
the planet, it is generally understood that tanning salons and I should stay
far away from one another. No good could possibly come from that relationship;
I would only be hurt (in more ways than one) in the end! Even putting my
transparency aside, I can’t understand why someone would knowingly put
themselves in harms way? Even though tanning has been proven as an addictive
behaviour, I still can’t wrap my head around the appeal....
If there are two things I know for sure that men hate they are 1.) waiting around while their wife/girlfriend does “girly” things and 2.) holding her purse. Shopping with the old ball and chain usually results in the male enjoyment both of those activities simultaneously! Luckily for the boys out there, the Telegraph UK is reporting a new piece of research that puts forth what very well may be the best darn excuse for men to stay out of the mall I have ever heard....

All stores should be size friendly not just A&F... there is no reason that someone who is plus size should have to shop at a plus size store and pay double what everyone else pays and have clothes that are not as "in" or "attractive" as the rest. It used to be sexy to have curves and not be a walking bone bag... what happened to that? Since when is it "hot" to have no curves, no shape to your body and no personality? I think women who have curves, a little meat on their bones (or a lot) are just as sexy as everyone else. It's all how you carry yourself and how you feel inside and how you want others to see you. Confidence goes a long way!!!
onThe issue is only a small part about the size of consumers. We have many plus size stores, tall stores, all type of stores who cater to different body styles, and that is great. What he said is basically if you are not a size 10 and below is that you are not or never could be "cool", Really? I know cool people from a size 2 to a size 22, and who gives a crap. I believe he thinks only small people are worthy. Well he just bent over and shot himself in hos very cool butt
