Confessions of a Luluholic: Have You Ever Been Addicted To A Store?

Even as a teenager, I have treated the business of shopping as just that—a business. To me, making a purchase is serious stuff that requires thoughtful consideration. Impulse buys were not something I ever needed to worry too much about, I have always been more of a multiple visits, try before you buy kind of gal. It’s for this reason that I am so shocked by my recent retail behaviour when it comes to a particular Canadian company. If I’m being honest, I think I may be battling a bit of an addiction problem…

Mid-Shin Is In: But Will Real Women Wear This Demure Hemline?

Certain women were born to dress in a ladylike and lovely way. Others are just drawn to looks with a bit of edge and androgyny like moths to a flame. Happily for us fashion enthusiasts this fall/winter sees a plethora of looks on both sides of the spectrum. But utilitarian pants motorcycle jackets aside, there is one feminine silhouette that seems to be having a big impact on the way ladies are getting dressed these days…

When Did "Mom Hair" Become A Must?

As I am 26, I’m not going to pretend that I know anything about grey hair. I do like to think, however, that when the time comes for me to age gracefully that I will embrace the grey and perhaps even lean towards the platinum end of the spectrum rather than trying to cover it with dark dyes—it’s a lovely thought, but we will see if it holds true in 15 to 20 years! Beyond battling the grey, the one thing I have never understood about the aging process and a woman’s hair is why, when motherhood (or “a certain age” whichever comes first) strikes, long hair is no longer an acceptable option….

The "Fully Done Face": A Do or A Don't?

As far back as I can remember it has always been a beauty rule of thumb that you should only play up one feature at a time. If you were opting for dark smoky eyes, the lips should be kept subtle; while if you were trying a bold lip colour on for size, the eye makeup should be minimal. It was just sort of the unspoken rule of doing up your face. Well, if Kristen Stewart and Nicole Richie are any indication, it looks like the old “highlight one feature at a time” rule was made to be broken. See what I’m talking about after the jump.

Love It or Loathe It: ScarJo's New Tousled Bob?

There’s no denying that Scarlett Johansson is a bombshell. As a blond, brunette, and a redhead the woman turns heads. I would image (based mostly on Jessica Biel’s narcissistic comments in Vogue a few months back) that looking that way may cause a woman to change certain things about their appearance with the hopes of being taken more seriously professionally. I can’t say for sure, but I have to assume that something like this was what was going on when ScarJo headed to the salon and opted for her latest crop…

My New Obsession: Benefit Magic Ink

Bottom line (pun intended): Liquid liner is not the most user-friendly product on the market. In all honesty, I usually shy away from it as to avoid looking like one of Hollywood’s celebutantes on their way home from a bender. I have enough trouble getting regular liner to stay where I want it on a night out! Understandable then that when Benefit’s new Magic Ink liner arrived in my mailbox I was a little hesitant to give it whirl…

What Goes Around Comes Around…Again: The Turban Makes Another Comeback!

We all know that trends are cyclical, but a two-year turnaround seems a little speedy—especially when it comes to something like rather eccentric headwear! During the spring of 2007, Prada was responsible for a slew of celebrities trying brightly coloured satin turbans on for size and recently it seems that a number of stars are again being intrigued by the attention grabbing wraps. See what I mean after the jump.

Study Finds Your Bra Colour May Indicate Your Bedroom Prowess!

I’m not going to lie; most days I’m so groggy in the morning I’m not even sure what colour bra I’m putting on. The goal of it not being seen through my blouse (unless of course that’s part of the look) usually trumps any ambitions of implementing seduction techniques, but according to a new study out of the U.K. a woman’s choice of bra hue can be rather revealing. Find out what your bra might be saying about you after the jump!

How Do You Deal With Your Pimples?

Zits happen; there’s no denying that. No matter how good your skin is or how rigorous you are about caring for it, from time to time a pimple is bound to rear its ugly head. When this unfortunate event happens there is a right and a wrong way of dealing with it. Most of us know that picking and popping are major dermatological no-nos, but are you familiar with the medical method of dealing with blemishes?

When Shoulder Pads Attack: Is Kim K’s Bold Shoulder A Do or A Don’t?

I make no secret of the fact that there is no love lost between the Kardashian sisters and I. Just like Heidi and Spencer, Paris Hilton and all the other “celebrities” out there who are famous for no apparent reason, I wish they would just go away. Or better yet, get a real job. Of the Kardashian clan, I would have to say that Kim is the least annoying and, to her credit, is usually pretty well dressed. Usually is clearly the operative word in that sentence…
