The Latest In Skin Care? Snail Slime

IStock_000016638139XSmall

Tonight I read my nephew a bedtime story about Gluey the snail who fixes broken objects with his slime. As we read along, I had no idea that Gluey and his gooey trail could also be the next big thing in skin care, repairing cuts, healing infections, and fighting off UV rays; but lo and behold, top Korean brands are now pushing the unorthodox additive as the next big thing.

Christian Louboutin Is Bringing Cinderella's Glass Slipper To Life

Wenn5568433

There are only a few iconic shoes that stand out in pop culture history: Dorothy's ruby slippers, Elvis' blue suede shoes, and of course Cinderella's glass slipper. According to WWD, famed footwear designer, Christian Louboutin, wants to bring the only animated shoe of the bunch to life by reinventing Cindy's slipper.

Spotted At The GAP Fall 2012 Preview

Twice a year I'm lucky enough to get a sneak peek at what will be in retail shops for the upcoming season. In the fashion world we call them previews and the one I always look forward to most is at GAP. Why? Because I shop at GAP - they deliver  stylish on-trend clothes that I can afford and I'm sure that's what you guys look for when you're shopping, too. With that in mind I thought I would share my sneak peek with you, so that you can start revving up your shopping lists for fall. (Technically some of these items will start rolling out in June.)

At Banana Republic expect lots of well done classics—animal prints, nautical blue and red stripes, and knits in luxurious fabrics like cashmere and merino wool. I also spotted lots of leather piping details added to items like trench coats, capelets, and the pockets of a grey poncho (pictured above). The overall vibe was Kate Middleton in Cape Cod, if you know what I mean.

Science Confirms The Horror of Swimsuit Shopping

IStock_000011895637XSmall

A recent study by Australian psychologist Marika Tiggermann has proven what all women already know: swimsuit shopping sucks. The study, published in the psych journal Sex Roles, showed that simply imagining the scenario of shopping for a new suit can lead to an increased bad mood, not to mention feelings of self-objectification.

"Self-objectification has a variety of negative consequences—always worrying about how you look, shame about the body, and [it] is linked to eating disorders and depression," Tiggerman told the website LiveScience.

Kim + Kanye: Do You Wear Your Heart On Your Sleeve?

Wenn3842326
Kim arriving at LAX. Click here to see her earrings close up.

I was in Cuba recently and a man asked me what my tattoo said. "Your boyfriend's name?" he asked. "Umm, heck no," I replied (with a Spanish accent, of course.) It doesn't mean I love him any less, but I have no desire to declare my love for my man on my body, be it through a permanent gesture or a temporary one, such as Kim Kardashian's (not so) clever PR move this weekend.

Coachella Wrap-Up: Music Festival Style Lessons From The Stars

Coachella, the first music festival of the season, has officially wrapped and while the biggest story to come out of the two-weekend-long bash was a surprise performance from late rapper Tupac, the celebrity style exhibited was also of note.

Of course music fests are notorious for their peace-loving looks - inspired by the original outdoor bash, Woodstock - but here are some celebs who balanced the fringe and flower wreaths, with just the right amount of sensible style.

This model-turned-actress is a vision in white with short shorts only her catwalk-ready legs can pull off. Shorts make it easy to grab a seat on the grass, but a few flashy details help you stand out in a crowd, so I love this embellished cut-off. She's also wearing boots, which is great for keeping the dust and dirt out of your toes and protecting them from getting stepped on in lineups. Rosie's also ready for a full day in the sun with both stylish shades and a loose sheer top to keep her shoulders covered. Believe it or not, wearing a loose longsleeve will keep you much cooler than a tight tank.

We Tried It: Live Clean Professional

Shampoo

When Earth Day comes around each year, I start thinking about the ways I can make a small change to be kinder to the planet. In the past, I’ve resolved to stop using plastic water bottles and to not salt my driveway in the winter. But when samples of the new Live Clean Professional line came across my desk recently, I began thinking that the change for this year could be an easier one - and prettier too!

Beauty Tip: How To Look Well Rested In An Instant

  S1306729-main-Lhero

There's a clever little makeup trick that many artists use and I was kindly reminded of it on set yesterday. It's a two second process that immediately adds two hours of sleep to tired eyes. The secret? Nude eyeliner.

From Black To Red: Bridal Turns Up The Heat

Look9
My favourite look from Vera Wang's all red bridal collection.

How fitting: the colour of love is now at the centre of the bridal industry. Last season there was a big push for black, but at this week's Bridal Fashion Week it was red that made a major splash, with wedding guru Vera Wang opting for an entirely crimson collection. The fashion world as a whole has been turning towards more prim and proper silhouettes, so to introduce such a sexy colour on what's meant to be a woman's biggest show of innocence comes as a surprise. Or does it?

Trending: Chin Implants Gain Popularity

IStock_000015952955XSmall

You know that old saying, "chin up, Buttercup"? Well, according to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, chins are newly on the rise. Chin augmentation is the fastest growing trend in plastic surgery with a 71% increase in 2011, as reported by The Globe and Mail. Over half of the patients were men and the Society cites an aging population as the main cause for the increase, since the jawline is often one of the first areas to show age.

Actress Susan Sarandon recently admitted to having liposuction under her eyes and chin to fight the inevitable gravitational effects of being 65 and as painful as that may sound, I assure you the implant route sounds even worse. I won't get into the details, but the words cut, chisel, saw, and screw are all involved in one way or another. Remember, that's your face I'm talking about.
