My 2013 Style Resolutions

To keep my closet in check
I have a new philosophy for shopping: whenever one item comes in, another has to go out. I live in a small apartment and if I don't keep my closet in check, then I can quickly get lost in the clutter. The busier my closet becomes, the less clear my dressing options are. If I can keep my clothing to a minimum, however, I end up with clearly defined outfits and get out the door with much less stress and in half the time.  And so, before I take a new piece out of its bag, I'll have to have another designated for the Goodwill bin.

To be more decisive
Every purchase I make gets approved by my gal pals beforehand. We send iMessages back and fourth loaded with pics taken in dressing rooms across the city and wait at the cash registers for a responding thumbs up or down. It's fun and I actually love the process, but I think I've come to rely on their opinions a bit too much, crippling my ability to shop out of cell phone range. Time to buck up and swipe the plastic all on my lonesome (sometimes)!

To stop holding out for the perfect occasion
I mentioned this issue in last year's style resolutions, but failed to make good on my commitment. Whenever I purchase a new item that I love, I keep it shiny and new in my closet, tags on, until the absolute perfect occasion arises. Silly! I end up never wearing it! I need to start seeing every day as the perfect occasion for the perfect outfit because what's the point of owning items that you love and feel great in if you're not gonna show them off?

Have your say! What are your 2013 style resolutions?
