The Top 3 Makeup Looks From Couture Week
Opulence took centre stage in Paris this week. Gorgeous snowflakes fluttered to the ground outdoors, while indoors the fashion who's who fell into their cushy assigned seats to take in the latest Haute Couture.
In addition to over-the-top designs, beauty also gets a big boost during couture week. After all, you can't very well send a model down the runway in a bejewelled feather gown with a ready-to-wear-ready ponytail, now can you?
Here are our favourite extreme makeup moments from the last week:
BEDAZZLED LIPS @ CHRISTIAN DIOR
Who could resist puckering up in these mega watt lips? Makeup artist Pat McGrath bedazzled model's lips with ruby-hued Swarovski crystals. Paired with a deep layer of rouge underneath, the results are as rich as Dorothy's slippers.
MESH LASHES @ CHANEL
Chanel is well-known for its stand-out beauty looks, from the embellished eyebrows of Fall/Winter 2012 to the lace masquerade strips of couture 2012. This year was no different—the Kaiser had mesh nets woven together and placed around the eyes. The effect was very delicate, like a watercolour painting, and might even mean a surgence of tear-streaked next-day eye makeup looks on the streets.
CAT EYES @ GIORGIO ARMANI PRIVÉ
Mr. Armani took cat-eye makeup rather literally with these peaked outer-corners. Perhaps inspired by his BFF Anne Hathaway, the clever eyeshadow placement gave the same effect as the cat-ears she wore in The Dark Knight. Paired with a slick freshly-licked side bang, the look was all-together feline.
Have your say! Which makeup look do you like best?
