The October 2010 Vogue cover at left and the November 2011 French Elle cover at right.

There was a bit of fuss today over a cover shot from the October 2010 Vogue featuring Carey Mulligan popping up on the cover of French Elle's November 2011 book. How could it be? A few bloggers cried, but really the answer is simple.

Look Honey, We Match!

IStock_000001572733XSmall
My boyfriend and I keep having a moment where we reach the front door, look at one another, and realize we're wearing the same outfit. One of us will then reluctantly go back to into the bedroom (okay he does - it took me long enough to pick the first outfit) for the removal of at least one piece of clothing until we are no longer the Bobbsey Twins.

From Logo Bags To Louboutins, Your Knock-off Isn't Fooling Anyone

Fendi-baguette
I hold Sex and the City and its unobtainable designer threads responsible
for birth of the knock-off craze.

Every time I see a knock-off being carried around town, I feel embarrassed for its owner. You're not fooling anyone. I realize that in your thirst for designer, it would be easy to convince yourself that a knock-off can pass the test, but let's face the stitching.

Hey Urban Outfitters Get Your Own Designs!

Urban   Koerner
Can you guess which design is by Urban Outfitters and which is by indie designer
Stevie Koerner? Find out after the jump.

Stevie Koerner recently left her job to pursue jewelry making, selling her goods on the popular website Etsy.com. One line called "A World of Love" contains adorable metal pendants like "I heart New York", so when a customer told her about Urban Outfitters' "Wear your locale love" line with "I Heart Destination Necklaces", you can imagine her surprise.

Design theft should come as no surprise at all. It's rampant amongst fast fashion retailers who offer runway looks for less, but to rip off every last morsel right down to the name? That's dirty.

Copycat: Kristen Stewart’s Pretty Pink Spring Look

Hits and Disses may not have thought much of Kristen Stewart’s ensemble at the premier of The Runaways last week (actually, the diss had more to do with KStew’s usual lack of posture than her designer coral confection), but her fresh and youthful rosy makeup sure caught my eye! Not only was it refreshing to see Stewart with such a light-handed and perfectly pink look happening, but this face is the perfect transitional spring look for all us non-superstar ladies too! I caught up with Vancouver makeup artist, Marlayna Pincott to get all the details on how to nail the look at home.

Copycat Coif: Anna Paquin

Sometimes, simplicity is drop-dead sexy. This was most certainly the case with Anna Paquin's Brigitte Bardot inspired half up look at the recent Screen Actors Guild Awards. Of course, Paquin's plunging neckline didn't hurt her sex appeal at all, but it was her carefree coif that really caught my eye. I caught up with Vancouver hairstylist, Carolynne Collyer, to get the lowdown on recreating the look at home. With V-day just around the corner, this might be just the look to take your night from sweet to saucy—if you know what I mean?

Copycat: Leighton Meester

The New Year is the perfect time to try out a new look. Nothing too wild and crazy, but rather a face with a subtle glow that looks equally as impressive at the office as it does during a night out with your girls. While Leighton Meester made a few questionable cosmetic choices last year, the soft metallic eyes and subtle pink lips she sported at a recent Entertainment Weekly event was the picture of understated perfection. I caught up with Sephora Pro Beauty Team Expert, Adi Lando, to get the scoop on recreating Miss Meester’s bright eyed (with a hint of sexy) look at home.

Copycat: Camilla Belle

Being called an ice princess is not exactly a compliment, but looking like one is a whole other story. This winter (and especially for the holidays) I’m all about a silvery glimmer on the eyes and a frosty quality to the lips—there’s something a little bit Scandinavian to the whole look. I caught up with Sephora Pro Expert, Nathalie Bechard, to find out how to recreate Camilla Belle’s gorgeous frosted face. Keep this one in mind for New Year’s girls…

Copycat: Blake Lively

She may have been at the premier of Where The Wild Things Are, but let’s be honest, this is the most demure we have seen Blake Lively look in, well, ever. I kid, I kid, it’s just that I’m used to seeing the young Miss. Lively be a bit more blatant about her sex appeal—does anyone else remember the Emmy dress cut down to there? She was giving J.Lo a run for her money in that thing! I guess this transformation just goes to show that every woman wants to work a “naturally glamorous” look every now and again. How fortunate for us, then, that Sephora’s Pro Beauty Team Expert, Nathalie Bechard, took notice of Lively’s recent red carpet look and let us in on all the tips and tricks needed to recreate it on our own. You didn’t think Blake came by that peachy glow naturally did you? Find out how after the jump.
