A look from Michael Kors' Fall '13 collection that could easily pass for spring.

We've all heard the term "seasonless dressing", and given this ever-changing wacky weather, the concept seems to make more and more sense. At least Michael Kors certainly thinks so.

The designer was in Toronto this week for a whirlwind visit to his Bloor Street boutique, as well as Holt Renfrew's flagship store. I was lucky enough to hear him speak to the Holts team while models walked in a few key looks from his latest collections, and when the spring '13 dresses ended and fall '13 appeared, MK quickly pointed out that the clothes didn't much change. Sure, there was a new theme and new colours, but we continued to see separates with long sleeves, no sleeves, and hemlines at every length. According to Michael, rather than announcing a new season, he'd rather simply say: Look, I made new clothes!

Although Tom Ford's namesake collection debuted back in 2010, this week marked his first return to the runway since bowing at YSL in 2004. He had been showing his work in exclusive, photo-free presentations to select buyers and editors, but announced that Fall 2013's London Fashion Week would bring him back to the masses. So as the images flooded style.com, many tuned in, waiting to see more of the streamlined high-gloss looks Ford is so well-known for. What they got was something a little different.

1. BATTLE OF THE SEXES
The runways were full of both ultra-feminine and menswear-inspired looks. From tailored pant suits with bow ties at Ralph Lauren to pretty peplum (yes, the trend that won't die) at Michael Kors, it looks like there's no mixing and matching the sexes. They may be calling it the "Vasari" clutch, but this fall/winter item from the menswear collection is nothing more than a glorified lunch bag. Featuring four metal eyelets at the base and a black Jil Sander logo, the handle-less coated kraft paper mirrors everyone's favourite sandwich tote.

Although not officially, the Labour Day long weekend tends to signify the end of summer. Along with a seasonal closet flip (goodbye short shorts, hello woolies), this is a great time of year to give your beauty drawer an overhaul. But before you toss those deep crimson tones, think twice, because beauty is taking a dark turn this fall.

Flipping through the denim section of any department store this month may leave you confused. No, you didn't take a wrong turn. These are jeans, but jeans like we've never seen before.

Over the last few seasons, denim has been changing colours, but for fall, using patterns, treatments, and notions, our favourite designers have transformed the blue jean into a whole new pant. With all eyes on newly single Katie Homes and the paparazzi documenting her every move, it's hard not to notice how she's been dressing. Surely her pronounced interest in fashion and news that her line - Holmes & Yang - will show at New York Fashion Week on September 8 also has a lot to do with the sudden wardrobe intrigue.
