Celebs I'd Love To See Go Brunette

20120212_kza_km0_176
Few people can bounce from dark to light hair, yet celebs - mostly due to movie roles, I suppose - seem to make the switch all the time. For many, it works out shockingly well. For others, however, not so much.

Cameron Diaz, Drew Barrymore, Scarlett Johansson, and Nicole Ritchie are just a few of the blonde celebs who have worn brown well - really well, in fact. But there are a few more names that I would love to add to that list.

Guest Post: How (Not) to Attend Fashion Week

2009-02-08_18520418_photo_by_Jimmy_Hamelin_ca_va_de_soi
Erin Cardiff is the Senior Editor for Bing Shopping. She is in Montreal this week and decided to see what Montreal Fashion Week is all about. Here's her take on the whole scene:

Since it’s one of the most beautiful and easily the most fashionable city in Canada (find me another city that makes winter clothes look good), Montreal seems like a great place to try out fashion week. The city lights up with Semaine Mode Montreal for a week each February. It’s meant to be a more fun and less intimidating week than in New York or Paris, but still packed with high fashion shows jammed full with pretty clothes and fashionable people.

… And, for the first time ever, me - who does not have a clue about anything related to fashion.

My 5 Fashion Week Essentials

I'm off to New York Fashion Week and for the last few nights I've barely slept, staying up instead to mentally pack my suitcase. Some items are a given: Black jeans - check! Black blazer - check! Fabulous little party dress - check, check!! But beyond the obvious, it gets a little trickier.

For fashion week, one has to walk the fine line between style and comfort, as the days are long, yet full of fashionable (read judgy) people. Plus there's the New York factor—every gal in Manhattan is oozing with style from atop 6 inch platform heels. The standard is exceedingly high.

So with all engines go, here are the top 5 pieces that made it into my suitcase, which I'm hoping will carry me through the week gracefully. The general theme? Keep the clothing basic and accessorize like crazy.

Mark's Spring/Summer 2012 Preview

With Groundhog Day behind us and spring just around the corner, we are definitely turning our eyes to spring fashion - bright colors, floral prints and, of course, thoughts of warmer days.

Last week, we were able to attend a spring/summer fashion preview for Mark's. As soon as we walked in, we fell in love with the eye-catching colours and super-cute styles.

Here's a closer look at some of our favourites:

Is Camel Toe Really A Problem?

Smooth-groove-camel-toeThe SmoothGroove Camel Toe Solution. Also available in white!

Fashion writers get many press releases throughout the day. Some pop in with a story idea to save you at the last minute, while others are tear-inducingly hilarious. For example, I get a lot of PR about camel toes.

In my opinion, this isn't exactly something that people worry about on a regular basis. Wearing underwear seems to tame the trouble for most, but if it doesn't - sorry I'm laughing already - maybe SmoothGroove is for you.

Is Matching Back In Thanks To Angelina Jolie?

20120115_kza_ka2_1944
The minute Angelina stepped onto the Golden Globes red carpet in a white silk Atelier Versace gown with a cherry red folded collar and matching cherry red lips and clutch, the Twitterverse was convinced that matching is once again chic.

Public Pyjama Pant Ban Proposed In Louisiana

IStock_000013996237XSmall
Oh this is funny: the commissioner of Caddo Parish, Louisiana is seeking to ban pyjama pants from being worn out in public. His plea comes after a public incident where he witnessed two young men wearing loose pjs and claims their private parts were about to fall out. "Pyjama pants today, next it will be underwear tomorrow," he says. Not underwear—sacré bleu!

Has this man ever seen a picture of Lady Gaga? Louisiana's own Britney Spears? How about a Pride Parade? Cause you can forget about the undies when it comes to leather chaps.

PETA Slams Fox Fur Merkins

IStock_000016277145XSmall
The "Foxy Bikini" looks alarmingly like a troll doll. Click here to see.

First things first:
mer·kin  (mûrkn) n. A pubic wig for women.
Alright then, now that that's out of the way, let's take a look at why merkins are back in the news…

PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) has come out swinging against the luxury spa chain Completely Bare. The New York-based spa, which happens to be owned by one of the Real Housewives from the Big Apple, has added a fox fur merkin to their list of services.  They are calling it the "Foxy Bikini" and the cheesiness doesn't come cheap at $225 USD. Another addition to the menu is "The Carnivale Bikini" at $195 USD which consists of neon feathers (taped? glued? do I want to know?) to the business below. Having been to Carnival in Rio de Janeiro, I'm sad to admit that these feather merkins would fit right in. As for the fox fur version, I'm coming up empty handed on a fitting occasion.

A Wedding Dress For Drew

20110606_zaf_u99_224Drew Barrymore and fiancé Will Kopelman.

There was a buffet of celebrity news over the weekend from Beyoncé and Jay-Z welcoming their baby girl Blue to Sienna Miller announcing that she has a bundle of joy on the way with boyfriend Tom Sturridge. In all of the gossipy goodness, one piece of news was breezed over by many blogs and that is the engagement of Drew Barrymore. The reformed party girl is settling down with her beau of one year Will Kopelman.

Drew's look has changed drastically over her many years in the spotlight, so which side of her side of her style will show up to walk down the aisle? Here are a few friendly suggestions from the Spring 2012 collections.

My 2012 Style Resolutions

IStock_000017631300XSmall
To dress for warmth over style
I have a really bad habit of ignoring the weather's obvious cues and dressing like it's July year-round. I like to think I can't help it - I like summer clothes better - but the truth is, the more I listen to the weather man, the less I complain about not being able to feel my toes. So for the sake of my tootsies and those who put up with the complaining, it's time to throw on some hose, wear shirts with sleeves, and zip up my coat.
