Beyoncé Wows in Leather At the Super Bowl

20130203_kza_ke1_1313
Who run the world? Girls. Beyoncé absolutely owned the Superbowl halftime show in a black leather bodysuit. The Rubin Singer design let her bangin' body take centre stage with intricate paisley lace and a navel-deep v-neck. The long leather gloves were an obvious must and Proenza Schouler booties topped up the look, along with knee-high black socks.

Kanye Goes Twitter Cray

20111222_kza_kf3_242
For someone with nothing to prove, Kanye West sure spends a lot of time at it. Early Thursday morning he lit up the Twitterverse with a mix of resume details and 140-character diary entries, almost all surrounding his contribution to fashion.

Following the lethal reviews for his debut collection at Paris Fashion Week S/S '12, many people - myself included - thought his designer dream would die off. Apparently not so. Among other things, Kanye announced in his feed that he has started a new company called DONDA, a name which belonged to his late mother. Since this tweet followed dozens of others about not having any backing for his debut collection, studying design in Japan, opening up a Paris studio, having extreme respect for designers like Azzedine Alaia, and memories of shopping with his mom, I think it's fair to assume this DONDA will be a fashion company.

Pop Stars Commit Major Fashion Crimes As They Chase Gaga's Fearlessness

20110829_kza_kp7_065 20110828_kza_kw1_718 20110828_kza_kw1_578
Lady Gaga in her new Bob Dylan-meets-Elvis style flanked by Nicki Minaj (left) and Katy Perry who both looking to succeed Gaga's eccentric fashion rather unsuccessfully if you ask me.

There is a big difference between "fun" and tacky, but clearly the pop stars attending last weekend's MTV VMAs didn't get the memo. In a presumed attempt to keep the red carpet light-hearted and MTV-esque, artists like Katy Perry, Nicki Minaj,  Kreayshawn, and Jessie J ended up looking downright ridiculous with colour, shine, and tricked out cartoons popping out of everywhere. In fact, they've been looking consistently silly over the last few months as their attempts to chase after Lady Gaga's fearless fashion crown have begun to reach desperate measures. Even Gaga herself has moved on recently, sporting not only pants, but a full-blown cross-gendered look.

Street Style: Metric and The Stills Step Out To Support Emerging Designer Alana Kakia

Alana Ka'Kia, Designer Designer Alana Kakia in a sexy silk dress from her debut Holiday 2011 collection (which is on display behind her), along with a Ka'kia knit necklace, heart pendant by Ludevine, and vintage belt. She, of course, was our best dressed of the night.

If you're in need of a little style inspiration, look no further than your local The Society bash. The Toronto-based culture club (which now has chapters all over North America) is well-known for bringing out the city's sartorial best and this past Tuesday evening was no exception.

It was a celebration of fashion and music for the latest installation of The Society and Absolut ART series. Emerging designer Alana Kakia presented her Ka'kia line with its debut Holiday 2011 collection and Metric's Jimmy Shaw, as well as The Stills' Liam O'Neil and Dave Hamelin, took the stage for an extended instrumental set inspired by the fashion goods.

Love It or Loathe It: Hilary Duff's Walk On The Wild Side?

When Hilary Duff first arrived on the scene, her image was as bubble gum as they come. Her look was more Disney princess than pop tart, but then again she was pre-pubescent and was actually employed by Disney at the time so perhaps that was fitting? As the years have gone by however, Ms. Duff has really come into her own in terms of style….

I'm Loving It: My New Favourite Makeup Looks For Winter

I honestly cannot tell you what it is that triggers it, but every winter, without fail and almost like clockwork, I am overcome by the urge to radically shake up my makeup routine. Last year I was inexplicably drawn to very dark/very intense lip colours and suddenly became obsessed with growing and filling in my brows for a more polished look. I shouldn’t have really been surprised then when a few weeks ago, seemingly out of left field, I started adopting two entirely new looks into my makeup repertoire. Find out what they are after the jump.

Solid Gold: How To Look Holiday Party Ready In An Instant!

Oh the weather outside….well…it’s weather! But the one redeeming quality of the winter doldrums is it means that the holiday festivities are well under way. I don’t know about you guys, but I am a pretty big fan of getting decked to the nines for holiday fetes and for me, and apparently Miss Katy Perry, that means one thing….

Wow or WTF: Scherzinger and Swank Take Some Style Risks

From time to time, certain celebrities take it upon themselves to push the limits of “conventional” style. Whether the stars themselves are the masterminds behind the ensembles they step out in or if a hired stylist is behind these maneuvers is unclear, but during such outings the one question likely weighing on the minds of all passersby is: Wow or WTF!?

Love It or Loathe It: Kylie Minogue's Knit Turban?

Back in October we had a little chat about whether celebrities trying turbans on for size are making a bold fashion statement or just boldly screaming out for attention. Most of us seemed to agree that the style, whether a nod to disco-glam or an exotic nomadic lifestyle, is more of a hot mess than a hot look. A new incarnation put forth by Kylie Minogue, however, has me re-thinking my opinion on the matter…

Love It or Loathe It: Taylor Swift's New 'Do?

No stranger to the red carpet, Taylor Swift knows a thing or two about getting noticed. Unlike a lot of her celebrity peers, however, Miss Swift usually grabs attention for all the right reasons—no panty-free car exits or sex tapes hidden in this star's closet! Not a huge surprise then that at Sunday night's American Music Awards, it was the reveal of Swift's sleek and sophisticated new 'do that really stole the spotlight. Holy transformation Batman! Check her out and share your thoughts on Swift's new look after the jump.
