The Top 3 Punk Trends From The 2013 MET Gala

Wenn20322031Go punk or go ghome! Madonna takes the theme to the extreme.

Despite the punk theme at last night's MET Gala, many stars bypassed the invite and wore whatever they pleased. Luckily, there were a few stars who brought their inner punk rocker out to play.

Here's a recap of our favourite ways to wear the look:

#1 SLICK HAIR AND DARK EYES
If you're pressed for a punk aesthetic, beauty is an easy way to get the look. Stars like Lena Dunham, Karolina Kurkova, and Kerry Washington slicked back their hair and heavily contoured the eyes with wet black shadows for a nearly gothic finish. Anne Hathaway went sleek with her hair as well, and shocked the crowd with a bleach blonde shade—a big change from her usually dark 'do. Nicole Richie switched up her colour as well, wearing a chalky pastel blue that looked muddy and thick. Those rebellious style change-ups are what punk is all about!

Get The Look: Jennifer Lawrence's Oscar Mani + Giveaway!

Jennifer Lawrence Nail
It's been a week after Jennifer Lawrence's Oscar win, and I'm still obsessing over her stunning red carpet look

And while it may be difficult to snag her haute couture gown, J.Law's winning nail look won't put a dent in your wallet.

The Real Reason Anne Hathaway Wore Prada To The Oscars

Wenn3229813
When Anne Hathaway showed up on the Oscar red carpet Sunday night, the most surprising thing was not her pointy nipples (which quickly garnered a Twitter-handle à la Angie's Right Leg), but rather the fact that she was not wearing Valentino. A press release had gone out earlier in the day announcing that Mr. Valentino would be dressing Anne, as well as Jennifer Aniston and Sally Field, but while the latter two showed up in his signature red, Anne wore pink Prada.

Oscars: The Real Fashion Show Was After The Show

Wenn20166705
Is it just me or did everyone save the better dress for the after party? As the stars lined up at the annual Vanity Fair Oscar Party on Sunday night, they revealed complete wardrobe flips, far superior to those looks they sashayed down the red carpet.

Am I missing something here? Since when do you play it safe for the big event and bust out mad style when the lights go down? Anne Hathaway, whom I heavily critiqued yesterday for her boring blush Prada, slipped into a fab-u-lous custom Saint Laurent once the clock struck midnight—eastern standard time, that is. Now just imagine the improvement had she scooped up best supporting actress with that golden triangle beaming light into that mega-watt smile.

The Most Boring Oscar Red Carpet Ever?

Wenn20162679
My pick for best dressed: Charlize Theron in Dior Couture.

All throughout awards season, I was assuming that the stars were taming their style in order to go big for the Oscars. But last night the red carpet unfolded like a yawn-fest. White, blush, black, and grey dresses marched down the line in predictable strapless trained shapes, leaving me wanting more. More drama, more colour, more fun! Remember how fashion is supposed to be fun? It sure didn't feel like it in Hollywood last night.

A Style Message From Taylor Swift

Wenn20151028
Taylor Swift has been wearing white on every red carpet since December of last year, and when you're Taylor Swift, that's a lot of white. Until Wednesday night. Until she stepped out at the Brit Awards in a black gown with two sheer panels running all the way up the legs to the hips. The descriptor "sexy" being an understatement.

Hey GRAMMYs—Cleavage Much?

Wenn20123161
Despite CBS's enforced dress code, side boob, underboob, and big cleavage took centre stage at the Grammy Awards on Sunday night. The red carpet was littered with revealing gowns, perhaps Kelly Rowland most of all. The Destiny's Child singer left nothing to the imagination in a black Georges Chakra gown covered in strips of sheer panelling that ended just centimetres away from her lady parts. Katy Perry also caused jaws to drop at the sight of her very visible cleavage. The well-endowed pop star all but shone a spotlight on her breasts with a keyhole cut-out Gucci gown that left her looking more cartoon-like than anything else.

Dress Code In Effect For Sunday's Grammy Awards

Wenn3727207
Apparently Rihanna's sideboob had better not make another appearance this year...
For whatever reason, the Grammy Awards always bring out the most outrageous awards season fashions. Perhaps it's because singers are used to stage costumes, or perhaps it's because they are all trying to out-crazy Gaga (good luck!), but somehow the red carpet typically reads less like a glamourous style show and more like a circus.

The Best and Worst Beauty Looks From The SAG Awards

The Screen Actors Guild Awards rolled out in Los Angeles last night and Hollywood's best assets were on full display. There was lots of black, navy, asymmetrical hems, and see-through panels, but leaving the sartorial story aside for a moment, there was also lots to be said in terms of beauty. Deep side parts dominated the red carpet with Amanda Seyfried, Naomi Watts, and Marion Cotillard all favouring the look. As for makeup, smoky eyes and crimson lips did most of the talking.

Here are the best and worst beauty looks from the evening:

BEST MAKEUP: Rose Byrne
With all of the cat-eyes and kohl-rimmed looks we've come to expect on the red carpet, sometimes the best way to stand out is to keep it soft and pretty. Makeup artist Hung Vanngo gave the Damages star luminous skin to start, building in generous yet well-blended rose blush. The eyes are a mix of metallic and lavender tones for a dewy finish and the perfect finishing touch comes by way of that poppy pink pout. All cosmetics by CK One Color.

Fashion Recap: The 2013 Golden Globe Awards

20130113_kza_ke1_1136
My pick for best dressed: Kerry Washington.

It was a night to remember, mainly thanks to Tina Fey and Amy Poehler's brilliant hosting skills at the 2013 Golden Globe Awards. Unfortunately the fashion didn't quite hold a candle to their spot-on banter and many dresses fell short of the usual Hollywood standards. Where was the Tom Ford white cape à la Gwyneth Paltrow, or the canary yellow Valentino à la Cate Blachett? That über-special stand-out dress forgot to show up to the party.
