Guest Blog: I Tried It: Zax's Original Bruise Cream

Confession time: I am a klutz. As a child, it’s cute; as a teenager, it’s a phase; but as an adult, it’s embarrassing. And more importantly, it’s a hazard to my health and wardrobe!

On any given day it’s a safe bet that I will spill something, knock something over, drop something or bump into something. (If you’re thinking I should have my eye sight and depth perception checked, trust me I have.)

It’s the bumping into things that’s the worst because, in addition to being klutzy, I bruise like a peach. So you can imagine my delight when offered a chance to try out Zax’s Original Bruise Cream

Would You Buy Your Wedding Dress Online? I Did

I remember finding my dream wedding dress and not being able to stomach the $3000 price tag. It may not seem like a lot of money to some people, but as a newly engaged and broke University grad, $3000 was almost the price of my last tuition bill. With a wedding to pay for, honeymoon costs looming and the possibility of buying our first home – I just couldn’t do it. So I decided to get a little creative and find a good compromise. Once you get your heart set on a dress and a style, it’s hard to get that idea out of your head. So what did I do?

The DIY Spa Manicure

Nails looking raggedy and polish getting chipped? No time to run out for a manicure? I'm generally low-maintenance when it comes to my nails and only really bother to get them done for special occasions. However, one day I was giving a client presentation and pointing out different parts of the contract and noticed how terrible I had let my nails get. Clearly not the end of the world, but kind of embarrassing when you're trying to look polished and professional. My solution? To look into a fast and easy do-it-yourself spa manicure for the busy girl or guy on the go. Whether you're looking to save some cash or trying to maintain your nails in-between spa visits, check out these tips from Brenda Belo, an OPI Guest Artist.

The Haircut I Will Never Get Again

Everyone has had one hideous haircut that they will never get again. I have two. The first one was a short pixie cut I got when I was eight years old that my Mom talked me into. Why was she such a fan? She had the same one.

I looked like a boy and it was not cute in that Tinkerbelle sort of way. It’s one of those haircuts that you look back on, *shudder*, blame your Mother about and burn the picture of. Luckily, very little evidence exists, so I couldn’t possibly post it on a national website like this one. It grew out like a Muppet and was not something I could ever re-live. What's the second haircut that I will never get again?

Why I Love Mineral Foundation

Remember back in the day when it was all about tinted moisturizer and liquid foundation? Then mineral makeup busted out on the scene and all of a sudden every makeup label started to carry their own line to keep up with the craze. For me, it all started with Bare Escentuals SPF 15 mineral powder foundation. The product claims a “silky, soft texture (that) looks like a powder, but feels like a cream and buffs on beautifully.” I really liked the sheer texture that didn’t feel greasy and heavy on my skin – especially in the summer. I was converted immediately and the SPF coverage is a definite plus!

Beautiful Brows: How Do You Keep Them Looking Great?

I have a pretty low threshold for pain. Pinch me and I bruise like a peach. Plucking my own eyebrows? Impossible. My eyes start to tear up and I’m just too sensitive over the whole thing that I end up with half-plucked brows. It’s generally a disaster and I have learned not to attempt brow removal on my own. I don’t have big furry brows, which are back in style now. I have a sparse set that does need a bit of attention when the hair starts growing in random spots such as between my brows and above the brow bone. That’s usually when I seek help from a professional.

The Beauty Product I’m Addicted To

Everyone has one beauty product they absolutely can’t live without. It probably sits tucked away in a bathroom drawer where you have seen it for as long as you can remember. It’s the thing you probably use every day and have replenished for years. What’s the one beauty product you are addicted to? This is an easy answer for me…

The Two Hair Tools I Upgraded and Now Swear By

I have really long hair. The kind that goes past your shoulders and takes forever to style and dry. For as long as I can remember, I've used a crappy travel hairdryer that I found under the sink of my Mother’s bathroom. It had two settings, high or low, and the heat level was always the same. Lucky for me, the thing finally broke and I was forced to upgrade from the default dryer I had used for over ten years. So what do I swear by now?

Why You Should Dry Shampoo

I learned about dry shampoo from Heidi Montag. She sashayed onto The View, spraying her dry shampoo like crazy and I heard about this interesting product for the first time. I have clearly been living in a cave because dry shampoo has existed since the 1800s! So what exactly is dry shampoo?

Easy Three-Step Skin Care

Bright and clear looking skin doesn’t usually happen overnight. You might have amazing genes like Carrie Underwood, who now reps Olay, but most of the time it’s a disciplined routine that leads to fab looking skin. My crazy combination face is far from perfect with an oily T-zone and dry cheeks. However, I keep it all in check with an easy three-step skin care routine...
