Buy Now, Wear Now and Later!

A feminine bow blouse meets what I'm referring to as colour contouring at 3.1 Philip Lim Fall '12.

New York Fashion Week has been an absolute whirlwind and, by the end of a long day running from show to showroom all across Manhattan, the clothes almost all blur into one giant collection. Now as I type from the Newark airport reviewing my notes, however, I'm starting to realize that there's another reason for my haze: the thread of trends. Even calmly looking back, it's easy to see how much certain styles overlap between designers.

Trend reports are, of course, what the fashion blogs and magazines base their monthly lineups on and while the spring looks are now unfolding with loads of colour and sportswear chic, I'm going to give you a quick look ahead to which of those spring trends also carry into fall. This way you can be a smart shopper and skip the trends that will only last a few measly months.

Bill Cunningham snapped at NYFW Sunday afternoon by Holt Renfrew's Amina Said.

IStock_000011667635XSmall

Because of my pale skin, I've always shied away from dark lipstick. No need to look any more ghostly, I thought; but as it turns out I was wrong. When worn the right way, dark lipstick can be a dramatic look loved by all.

Holiday Picks: Sparkle And Shine

Holiday parties are rolling out and there's no easier way to get festive than with a little sparkle and shine. This season glitter is taking over the marketplace, but diamond encrusted goodies are always a fave of mine. Check out my top picks that mix up a little bit of both.

How To Keep Cozy At The Office

KHAKI1

Available at The Narwhal Boutique in Toronto or online at Woolandthegang.com.

As tempted as you may be to wear your fuzzy slippers around work, it's not the most professional way to combat office chill. Instead, keep an oversized scarf at your desk to stay warm and on-trend at the same time.

What do Miss Piggy, Jersey Shore, and Anna Wintour have in common? It appears as though they are all playing muse to designers and editors the world over.

The Great Canadian Coat Wardrobe

We all joke about the winters here in Canada, but I hate being cold, so for me it's no laughing matter. I take bundling up very seriously and in order to do it right, I need an arsenal of outerwear. Here are the four coat styles I think every Canadian gal needs to make it from October to May:

#1: MOTORCYCLE JACKET
A fabulous leather bomber can take you surprisingly far into the colder season. With a scarf, tuque, and mittens, this Mackage leather can ward off the wind without sacrificing any style.
